Have you recently had a new conservatory installed?  Or perhaps you have an existing conservatory, and it has started to look tired and in need of updating.  Over time, the décor will become dated, and entrance doors may not function as well as they once did.  We have put together this article on 8 ways to modernise your conservatory.

  1. Create Warmth

A lot of older conservatories have tiled floors.  Ceramic tiles can feel cold on your feet, especially in the winter.  Perhaps you have wooden floors, which although can look modern, they can still make the floor look bare and unwelcoming.  You can opt for replacing the flooring with a deep pile, fluffy carpet, providing warmth and comfort.  If you don’t have the budget for an entire new carpet, you have the option of investing in an equally satisfying deep pile rug.

  1. Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring never seems to become dated and is one of the most popular styles of flooring people tend to choose.  Mainly because it is easy to clean, which is a bonus in a conservatory being the main doorway to your garden, but it is also durable and can look stylish.

  1. Add Natural Elements

Having a conservatory installed is the perfect way to add a source of natural light and warmth to your home.  Certain plants will thrive in these conditions, so why not add some greenery indoors? You will be instantly creating a natural feel, uplifting your mood and creating a vibrant living space.

  1. Choose White!

You might be tempted to go bold with colours, and why not?  However, if you want to create a more modern look, white is one of the most contemporary colours you can choose. Even if you add a touch of colour to the walls and keep your furnishings white, for example, fitted blinds, throws and cushions, you will still be adding a classy look.

  1. Update your Doors

Do you have existing patio doors? Although patio doors come with several benefits, especially if you want to allow in as much natural light as possible, you might consider changing them for bifold or french doors.  By simply changing the design, you will be instantly giving your conservatory a sense of modernity.

  1. Change your Lighting

During the summer, when the nights are longer, and you have more hours-worth of natural light, lighting may not seem an important factor.  However, as the winter starts to set in, you will notice it becomes darker earlier, creating a bleak and dreary environment. You can easily become creative with lighting, using a variety of floor lamps, spotlights and even coloured lighting.

  1. Update your roof

A lot of conservatories are installed with a glass roof, which is an ideal source for lighting and heat.  However, have you considered a tiled roof with a roof lantern? You will still benefit from additional lighting but will be instantly updating the look and feel of the entire room.

  1. Create stunning views to the outside

Making changes to your interior is not the only way to improve your conservatory! You can have the most comfortable, modern space, yet there could be room for improvement in your garden.  Why not add some evergreens to your patio area? Or perhaps a picturesque water feature to create a calming vibe.
