Watch These Home Improvement Programmes for Inspiration

Finding inspiration for your home can be difficult, especially as there are currently no home improvement exhibitions you can attend. The internet is often filled with expensive and over the top designs that aren’t suited to a standard UK home. That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite home improvement shows to give you some inspiration.

Love it, or list it

‘Location, Location, Location’ dream team Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer battle it out to help homeowners decide whether to stay put or move to a new home. Kirstie often has great space saving tips as well as affordable ways to modernise or add character to homes. Whilst, Phil is tasked with finding a new home suitable for the homeowners. This gives you the chance to take a peak inside new builds or period properties and get some serious design inspiration, all from the comfort of your sofa! 

Love it or list it airs Wednesday’s at 8pm on Channel 4.

Your Garden Made Perfect

This show is a modern take on the good old ‘Ground Force’. Using virtual reality, two gardeners get the chance to design homeowner’s gardens. The homeowner’s can only choose one of the gardener’s designs to transform their garden. This show is great if you are looking to give your garden some TLC but have no idea where to start. Maybe you’ve just got new patio or bi-fold doors and now want a beautiful garden to bring the outside in. The tips are this show aren’t just for professionals and you can definitely pick up some garden ideas.

Your Garden Made Perfect airs on Thursday’s at 8pm on BBC 2.

Your Home Made Perfect

A spin off of ‘Your Garden Made Perfect’, Angela Scanlon presents as two architects pitch for the chance to transform the homeowner’s property. Homeowner’s are shown the designs and can ‘walk’ around them using Virtual Reality technology. You can pinch experts ideas and replicate them in your own home, or maybe you just need some ideas to push you outside your comfort zone.

Your Home Made Perfect starts on 7th April at 8pm on BBC 2.

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces

George Clarke explores the world of small builds in this series and although they aren’t usually transforming homes it is a great place to pick up some ideas that are really outside of the box. Whether you are looking to make your home more sustainable and energy efficient or looking to create a fun space for your children to play, you are sure to find some inspiration here. 

George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces airs on Thursday’s at 8pm on Channel 4. 

Grand Designs

The title of the show says it all, yes these home designs are usually very grand and expensive but Kevin McCloud usually shares some great home improvement tips throughout the show. Plus, you can take inspiration from the unusual designs and include an essence of it in your home. If it’s new or more windows to add more natural light or adding an extension, you can definitely pick up some great design tips.
